This is a sideline of my research, one in which I have a strong interest but for which I am currently lacking funds. So if you have an idea related to that, then drop me a line, and we'll see what comes out of that.
A few pointers:
- African elephants are capable of vocal learning (truck sounds and sounds of Asian elephants)
- An Asian elephant mimicking speech sounds (2012 paper, press coverage 2006, 2010, 2012)
