Last year, I had a UROP in the Ribbeck lab at MIT, the Lab for Hydrogel Filters in Biology. I studied the properties of and cellular interactions with mucin coatings, and found that cells will not adsorb to surfaces coated with mucin. This property of mucin is often taken into account in areas such as drug development.
