Looking down into the amphitheater, the transect is to the right of the amphitheater, directly to the right of the right side sidewalk.  It is to the left of McDowell Hall. The transect consists of a stream running through the middle that is full of rocks and a sandy soil.  There are also trees, bushes, and grass surrounding the stream. The abiotic factors of the environment are sun, water, dirt, sand, soil, rocks, and the plastic that is under the stream. The biotic factors are the plants, trees, ferns, grass, weeds, bushes, and any animals that live in the environment.  During this observation, ants were seen in the transect.  There is very little human traffic directly in the transect however there is human traffic around the transect.

Does AU keep up the maintenance of this area? If so how?  There appeared to be a sprinkler in the transect area which would argue that AU does maintain the area which would affect how organisms live and grow in the area.

Amphitheater- McDowell Transect

Topographically, the area is hilly with a the stream being the lowest point and the land rising up on either side, though it rises higher on the right side.

A further question to be researched involving the transect is: Does AU keep up the maintenance of this area? If so how? There appeared to be a sprinkler in the transect area which would argue that AU does maintain the area which would affect how organisms live and grow in the area.
