Sample Prep

Solutions for UV-Vis analysis as shown:

Solutions were prepared with 53.1 mM Fructose, 3.45 mM gold, and 34.3 mM silver. All other stock solutions were as stated in the tables.

Data Analysis

This chart shows the absorbance spectra of 0.5 mM Fructose with no BSA and 0.25 mM Ag NP at varied pHs. The maximums appear to be around 420 nm. pH 8 appears to have the strongest absorbance, while pHs 11 and 12 appear to have the lowest around 420 nm. pH 11 and 12 have their maximums shifted right from the rest of the data.

This chart shows the A(530) for 0.5 mM Fructose with no BSA and 0.25 mM Ag NP at varied pHs.

This chart shows the absorbance spectra of 0.0625 mM Fructose with no BSA and 0.25 mM Ag NP at varied pHs. pH 11 shows a massive peak with an absorbance of almost 2. An absorbance this high has never been observed in any of our other trials of gold or silver. This is particularly odd because of the low concentration of fructose used and the high pH of the sample.

This chart shows the A(530) for 0.0625 mM Fructose with no BSA and 0.25 mM Ag NP at varied pHs.

This chart shows the absorbance spectra of 1.25 mM Fructose with no BSA and 0.25 mM Ag NP at varied pHs. The maximums appear to be around 420 nm. pH 8 appears to have the strongest absorbance, while pHs 11 and 12 appear to have the lowest around 420 nm. pH 11 and 12 have their maximums shifted right from the rest of the data just as in 0.5 mM fructose. pH 12 is of particular interest because it shows a peak around 270 nm. None of the other samples exhibit this peak.

This chart shows the A(530) for 1.25 mM Fructose with no BSA and 0.25 mM Ag NP at varied pHs.

This chart shows the UV-Vis absorption spectra for pH 11 samples with varied concentrations of fructose and 0.25mM gold NPs. The graphs are fairly consistent except for 0.75 mM Fructose, which has a slightly lower absorption maximum.

This chart shows the a(530) for pH 11 samples with varied concentrations of fructose and 0.25mM gold NPs.
