Please briefly describe any previous laboratory experience

  • After my senior year of high school, I worked for a summer as a intern in the Kiem Lab of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. During this time, I learned basic molecular biology and cell culture techniques, as well as taking part in a variety of projects relating to hematopoietic stem cells.
  • Beginning the summer after my freshman year at MIT, I joined in Tonegawa Lab of the Picower Institute of Learning and Memory here at MIT. As a UROP in this lab, I have learned many techniques relating to working with mice: survival surgery protocols, behavioral experiment protocols such as fear conditioning and operant conditioning, perfusions, and brain slicing, immunohistochemistry staining, and slice analysis.
