Adding lecithin will hopefully stop the nanogels from adhering to one another in large quantities. We are also going to let the PVOH/phosphate buffer solution cool before adding it immediately to the oil to be homogenized. This may be a crucial step we had been omitting the entire time. Allowing the solution to cool makes it a bit more solidified than when it is still at 100°C

Objective

Prepare nanogels with the addition of lecithin

Description

Adding lecithin will hopefully stop the nanogels from adhering to one another in large quantities. We are also going to let the PVOH/phosphate buffer solution cool before adding it immediately to the oil to be homogenized. This may be a crucial step we had been omitting the entire time. Allowing the solution to cool makes it a bit more solidified than when it is still at 100°C

Procedures

1) Prepare the following solutions:

  • 0.5 g PVOH, 3mL phosphate buffer, 50mL safflower oil (cooled solution prior to homogenization)
  • 0.5 g PVOH, 3mL phosphate buffer, 6μL R6G, 50mL safflower oil (cooled solution prior to homogenization)
  • 0.5 g PVOH, 0.25g lecithin (in 3mL H2O), 3mL phosphate buffer and 50mL safflower oil

Notes

This area is for any observations or conclusions that you would like to note.
