This project will employ a system comprised of a hydrogel core in which insulin will be distributed(to begin synthesis today) which will ultimately be coated by a lipid bilayer. The purpose for the lipid bilayer is for the system to successfully pass through the stomach acid (lipids are not digested until reaching the small intestine) at which point the hydrogel will be exposed and the insulin will be absorbed into the blood.
