Education and teaching
• In collaboration with the CIFE (research center in education and training), a Ph.D. student in Denmark and Chad Leidy among others, we are redeveloping the basic physics classes taken by life science students. We are making the classes completely active (no lecturing), and including peer instruction, tutorials and other elements of active learning. An important part of the class is the development of problems of interest to students in biology and medicine where physics is relevant.
• Improving education at the secondary level. The central aims of the project are to 1. Improve use of computers in secondary schools 2. Improve science teaching in Colombian schools. Students with programming skills or simply motivated by improving education are encouraged to join.
