Research Assistant

A full-time Research Assistant III position is available. Reporting to a postdoctoral fellow in the Silver lab, the Research Assistant will construct bacterial strains and perform experiments to study microbial carbon fixation. The candidate, in collaboration with other members of the lab, will maintain bacterial cultures, build strains and plasmids, perform experiments, produce written documentation of this work, and assist with laboratory maintenance tasks. The position is grant-funded for one year with the possibility of renewal. Basic qualifications: College degree in biology or related field or equivalent experience required. Two or more years of work experience in an academic or industrial setting. Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory techniques such as molecular cloning and microbiological culture. Additional qualifications: Master's degree in relevant field. Experience with biological hypothesis testing. Fluorescence microscopy experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills. We have positions open for Postdoctoral Fellows interested in synthetic biology, sustainability and mammalian cell programming.

We always welcome interest from new graduate students. Interested graduate students from Harvard programs should just send an email. Students from other universities who wish to do a masters and/or research rotation are also welcome and should send an email together with a CV.
