Jasonk 01:02, 25 October 2006 (EDT): We should get one of those hip laptop stickers ;) There are stickers of varying quality, the better ones are easily removable without messing up your laptop, i think we want a vinyl one. Here's some compnaies from a quick search:

Backprint text

We can get information printed on the back of every sticker, see example here. Seems like a good opportunity to say what the site is, something like:

OpenWetWare is an effort to promote the sharing of information, know-how, and wisdom among researchers and groups who are working in biology & biological engineering. To join this growing community, please visit: http://openwetware.org/wiki/join

or

The goals of OWW are to support open research, education, publication, and discussion in biological sciences and engineering. We promote and support collaborations among researchers, students, and others who are working towards these goals. To join this growing community, please visit: http://openwetware.org/wiki/join (think this is a little to dry personally).

Options for sticker

or one of the join OWW logos found here, if you wanted to put it on a round sticker for instance:

  • Jasonk 02:07, 9 November 2006 (EST): Anyone have preference for a round or a rectangular sticker? What size would you want a rectangular one to be? (the round ones seem to be pretty standard, a la the CC stickers).
  • Jennyn 09:28, 9 November 2006 (EST): I actually like the "I support OWW" except not with the green background. Yeah yeah, I made these, but I'm not that satisfied with them because the blue background of our wiki would look better with the fade effect. I will make the changes, post them, and we can have another option for stickers. I also really like this one. I will add a "I Support" instead of "Join" and see how that looks.
  • Jasonk 07:53, 10 November 2006 (EST): Cool. People seemed to prefer a circular one, available diameters would be 2.5 or 3.5 inches.
  • Jennyn 09:56, 15 November 2006 (EST): Here is a sticker design that might be another option for a 3.5 inch circle. Let me know your thoughts!
  • Lucks 10:20, 15 November 2006 (EST): Maybe a font that is closer to the OWW logos already on the site. And maybe a slightly off-horizontal angle of the DNA. But really cool in general.
  • Jenny 10:26, 15 November 2006 (EST): The font can definitely be changed. I wrote this one by hand because I didn't feel like formatting a font to the arch of the circle. However, for some reason the handwritten "font" looks a little more "hip" than just a regular type font. Just my thoughts. As far as the alignment of the DNA, couldn't this be changed by simply placing the sticker angled rather than formatting the helix that way? I could be misunderstanding the suggestion.
  • Sri Kosuri (talk) 10:30, 15 November 2006 (EST): Awesome.
  • Reshma 10:38, 15 November 2006 (EST): Fabulous!
  • Jasonk 10:42, 15 November 2006 (EST): OK, that rules.
  • cmc 10:50, 15 November 2006 (EST): I really like the round sticker, the handwriting font, and the horizontal DNA (circle of the sticker looks like an "O" and the DNA provides the "W"s for a subconscious OWW message.)
  • --Johncumbers 14:17, 15 November 2006 (EST) I love them, but could you make the text a little clearer, or larger circle to make it stand out? it looks little out of proportion at the moment I think(?)
  • Jenny 14:33, 15 November 2006 (EST): The circle is actual size (3.5 dia circle). Not sure if we can get a circle any bigger than that. But here is one that has a thicker font, and slightly more even on each side of the text.
  • Ilya 16:58, 16 November 2006 (EST): I like the round ones. I think it would be better to flip the DNA helix horizontally, so that it resembles letter 'W' more (now it looks like 'M').
  • Jenny 18:59, 16 November 2006 (EST): Actually...it depends on how you look at it. At-first-glance, I thought that is looked like a 'W' to me, and then when you mentioned the 'M' it took me a while to see it. :)
  • Jamesh008 06:43, 17 November 2006 (EST): Can we add this image to the Nature Methods article?
