We are attempting to move all usernames to use a person's full real name. Usernames should be the same as the name you use to publish, e.g. "User:Foo Q. Bar, Jr."

Implementation plan

  • Special:Renameuser: moves existing users, reassigns all edits and also moves all user pages to the new name
    • you need to have bureaucrat permissions to do this
    • if you have accounts on a subwiki, you should be careful how you do this as you may be unable to log in to your subwiki. You should move accounts on subwikis first and then move the account on OWW last. You should probably make sure there's at least one other administrator on your subwiki in case something goes wrong and you are unable to log in
  • ensure uniqueness of OWW accounts and email addresses
  • allow login via email address
  • have all newly created users use the new username format
