Prof. Masters, along with collaborators Prof. Pam Kreeger [2] and Prof. Justin Williams [3], has been awarded an NIH R01 entitled “Combinatorial Analysis of Migration Stimuli for Enhanced Wound Healing”

May 2011:
Prof. Masters will be the Director of the Women in Science and Engineering Residential Program (WISE) for 2011-2012 and is very excited to continue working with young female scientists and engineers!

Prof. Masters has been awarded an R21 from the NIH (NIBIB)! The grant is entitled “Nylon-3 Copolymers as Synthetic Cell-Adhesive Moieties for Tissue Engineering” and is in collaboration with co-PI Sam Gellman, Department of Chemistry.

2010

November 2010:
Masters Lab alumna Dr. Xiaoxiao Gu received a post-doctoral grant from the LAM (lymphangioleiomyomatosis) Foundation! Nice job, Xiaoxiao!

June 2010:
Congratulations to Karien J. Rodriguez, Ph.D.!!! Dr. Rodriguez has accepted a post-doctoral position in the lab of Prof. Chuck Czuprynski, School of Veterinary Medicine, UW-Madison.

May 2010:
Congratulations to Xiaoxiao Gu, Ph.D.!!! Dr. Gu has accepted a post-doctoral position in the lab of Prof. John Blenis, Department of Cell Biology, Harvard University.

Prof. Masters was awarded an NIH R01 (”Creating Engineered Models of Valvular Disease to Study Anti-Calcific Therapies”)!!

April 2009:

Prof. Masters was awarded the “Biomedical Teaching Award” by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Biomedical Engineering Division!

Prof. Masters was awarded another grant from the Wallace H. Coulter Translational Partnership at UW-Madison - “<a href="http://bmec.wisc.edu/" title="coulter site">Advanced, Bioactive Materials for Healing Chronic Wounds</a>“.

February 2008:
Prof. Masters was awarded “<a href="http://www.ndsu.nodak.edu/asee/awards.html" title="ASEE award">Outstanding New Educator</a>” by the ASEE North Midwest Section!

October 10th 2007:
Prof. Masters will be giving a presentation on how to write a broader impacts plan for NSF proposals. This workshop is organized by the <a href="http://www.delta.wisc.edu/" target="_blank" title="delta">Delta</a> program, and is geared toward graduate students and post-docs. September 2007:
The Masters lab’s work on aneurysm occlusion devices was featured in this semester’s <a href="http://www.engr.wisc.edu/bme/newsletter/article05_balloon_effect.html" target="_blank" title="newsletter">BME newsletter</a>. The investigators on this W.H. Coulter-funded work are Prof. Masters, Prof. Wendy Crone (Engineering Physics), and Dr. Roham Moftakhar (Neurosurgery), and all of the hard lab work is done by Fangmin Xu (Masters lab), Claire Flanagan (Masters lab), and Kevin Hart (Crone lab).

September 2007:
Elyssa L. Monzack, a Ph.D. candidate in the Masters lab, has been awarded a pre-doctoral fellowship by the UW-Madison’s Training Program in Translational Cardiovascular Science. Congrats, Elyssa!

August 2007:
