Nice job, Xiaoxiao! June 2010: Congratulations to Karien J. Rodriguez, Ph.D.!!! Dr. Rodriguez has accepted a post-doctoral position in the lab of Prof. Chuck Czuprynski, School of Veterinary Medicine, UW-Madison. May 2010: Congratulations to Xiaoxiao Gu, Ph.D.!!! Dr. Gu has accepted a post-doctoral position in the lab of Prof. John Blenis, Department of Cell Biology, Harvard University. May 2010: Prof. Masters was awarded the Polygon Outstanding Professor Award. March 2010: Kristyn has been promoted to Associate Professor with tenure. 2009 October 2009: Prof. Masters will be speaking at the Delta Program workshop on “Writing Broader Impact Statements for NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Proposals”. Dr. Puccinelli has accepted a post-doctoral position with the Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) at the UW-Madison. March 2008: Prof. Masters was awarded the Biomedical Teaching Award by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Biomedical Engineering Division! Prof. Masters was awarded another grant from the Wallace H. Coulter Translational Partnership at UW-Madison - "Advanced, Bioactive Materials for Healing Chronic Wounds". February 2008: Prof. Masters was awarded "Outstanding New Educator" by the ASEE North Midwest Section! 2007 October 10th 2007: Prof. Masters will be giving a presentation on how to write a broader impacts plan for NSF proposals. This workshop is organized by the Delta Program, and is geared toward graduate students and post-docs. September 2007: The Masters lab’s work on aneurysm occlusion devices was featured in this semester's BME newsletter. The investigators on this W.H. Coulter-funded work are Prof. Masters, Prof. Wendy Crone (Engineering Physics), and Dr. Roham Moftakhar (Neurosurgery), and all of the hard lab work is done by Fangmin Xu (Masters lab), Claire Flanagan (Masters lab), and Kevin Hart (Crone lab). September 2007: Elyssa L. Monzack, a Ph.D. candidate in the Masters lab, has been awarded a pre-doctoral fellowship by the UW-Madison's Training Program in Translational Cardiovascular Science. Congrats, Elyssa! August 2007: Prof. Masters was named interim faculty co-director of the Delta Program for Research, Teaching, and Learning! June 26th 2007: The Masters lab won their first ever intramural softball game (17-10)! June 20th 2007: Karien J. Rodriguez, a Ph.D. candidate in the Masters lab, has been awarded a pre-doctoral fellowship by the UW-Madison's Training Program in Translational Cardiovascular Science. Congrats, Karien! September 2006: Prof. Masters was featured in the BME Newsletter for: her NSF CAREER award, and her unique course, "Political, Ethical, Social, and Global Issues in BME" August 2006: Prof. Masters was awarded an R21 by the NIH/NIBIB for her project entitled "Immobilized Gradients of Epidermal Growth Factor for Accelerated Wound Healing". May 2006: Prof. Masters was awarded a grant from the W.H. Coulter Translational Partnership for her application entitled "Design of a Bioactive Spherical Aneurysm Occlusion Device". Her co-investigators are Prof. Wendy Crone, Ph.D. (Engineering Physics) and Dr. Roham Moftakhar, M.D. (Neurosurgery). February 2006: Prof. Masters was awarded an NSF CAREER award for her proposal entitled "The Relationship Between Material Properties, Cellular Mechanics, and Heart Valve Disease: An Integrated Plan for Research Discovery and Promotion of Science Literacy".
