This page serves as a brief description of multi-parent studies in progress, with links to the relevant websites for groups conducting the studies for further information. This page is a work in progress - please add information about populations and links as they become available.

Animals

(Mouse) Collaborative Cross

Developed by a large community of researchers.

Combination of eight inbred mouse strains (A/J, C57BL/6J, 129S1/SvImJ, NOD/LtJ, NZO/HlLtJ, CAST/EiJ, PWK/PhJ, and WSB/EiJ) to capture nearly 90% of all diversity known to be present in lab mice.

Many articles about the Collaborative Cross can be found in a special issue of Genetics/G3 from February 2012.

Information on the population:

Information on genotyping and data:

(Mouse) Diversity Outbred Cross

Developed by Gary Churchill's group.

A heterogeneous stock derived from animals representing 144 lineages from the Collaborative Cross. Information on the population and how to obtain the lines can be found here.

Drosophila Synthetic Population Resource

Developed by Stuart Macdonald and Anthony Long.

Information on development of the population, motivation, analytical machinery, and how to obtain the RILs and/or genomic data can be found here.

Plants

Maize Nested Association Mapping Population

Developed by Ed Buckler's group.

Information on the population and how to obtain the lines can be found here along with tools for analysis.

Arabidopsis MAGIC

Developed by Paula Kover.

Data and seeds available from: European Arabidopsis Stock Centre

Tools and data available on Richard Mott's website:

Wheat MAGICs

  • Spring wheat MAGICs (4-way, 8-way, 16-way) at CSIRO
  • Winter wheat MAGICs (8-way, 16-way) at NIAB
  • Wheat MAGIC based on genetic sterility at INRA
