Experiment

Objective Injections on Basal plate to image efferents in a different colour (DII) to the afferents (DiO)to analyse interactions between the two

Procedure

  • Right side: VIII (DiO) and Trigeminal (DiO) vs Basal Plate (DiI/Meth)
  • Left side: VII (DiO); Trigeminal (DiO) vs Basal plate (DiI/Meth)

Notes Don't have any obvious contamination. However one of the basal plate injections on the R was very close to the VIII nerve so that might contaminate?. Tried various locations of the injection site on the basal plate with respect to the lateral position (trying to find the position of the efferent cell bodies). Cut the stub off the R trigeminal nerve and injected into a little burrow/pit I created in the nerve so we'll see if that means that dye is picked up well.
