Protocols
Lab Jobs
Autoclaving
SLU: microcentrifuge tubes, glass aspirating pipettes, glassware (as needed)Pack items into autoclave bags, seal with tape and label “Kim Lab 419” Take items down to autoclave facility in basement.
Foege: microcentrifuge tubes, glass aspirating pipettes, Water bottles Pack items into autoclave bags, seal with tape. Run autoclave items (apply autoclave tapes) Run autoclave biohazard waste (apply autoclave tapes.)
TC Maintenence
SLU: Fill ethanol supply (dilute 190 proof w/DI water). Refill pipettes in drawers and note remaining supply. Notify Melissa or place order for any materials running low such as pipettes, sterile culture dishes or flasks. Take out biohazard waste to autoclave room (mark “DH Kim 419” and apply autoclave tape). Fold pipette keeper boxes as needed.
Foege: Refill pipettes and tubes in drawers and note remaining supply. Fill autoclaved water (approx 2L) of tray in incubator. Fold pipette keeper boxes as needed. Fill ethanol supply (dilute 190 proof w/DI water). Notify Melissa or place order for any materials running low such as pipettes, tubes, dishes, cover glasses, sterile culture dishes or flasks.
Stocking and Aliquoting
SLU: Remove a stock bottle from the freezer and place in 4C overnight to thaw. Check supply remaining and place order for more if needed. Trypsin and Pen Strep should be aliquoted into centrifuge tubes at 10mL, and FBS in 25mL. Label clearly and refreeze.

Water Bath
Drain water, spray down and wipe with ethanol (be sure to lift bottom plating to clean heating coils). Refill (approx 10L) and add appropriate amount of blue water bath solution.
Eye Wash
Verify that the stations (by the main door and in TC room at SLU, front sink at Foege) are functioning properly.
