==Lab meeting schedule==

Lab meetings are generally every Thursday at 14:30 at the meeting table on the 6th floor of SAF.
The format is now very simple - if your name is on the calendar below, you should present your work for 30-45 minutes.
With questions, discussion and lab business the meeting should take around 60-90 minutes.

The monthly schedule will incorporate 2-3 WIPs, one journal club and one presentation - see the Google calendar below for more details.
If you don't have much data to present then please present a deeper introduction, showing results from relevant publications to put your work in context. You could also use the meeting to present and discuss ideas for future work (but again backed up by a review of the literature).

See the [[Kafatos:present|list of lab members to see who is involved]].

===Journal club format===

A small group of people read and present the main findings of 4-5 papers from the past year or so around a single topic.
A review can be useful to include (if available) - distribute this before the meeting so all can read.

The focus should be on breadth and knowledge transfer rather than depth and picking apart methods (or at least, not before 4pm).

We should '''not''' print and pretend to read the papers before the meeting (except the review).

Broad topic areas (choose a sub-topic for a meeting if appropriate).
* Mosquito immunity
* Population biology/genetics
* Microbiomes
* Parasitology
* Bioinformatics
* Techniques (less frequently)

The [[Kafatos:Journal club|upcoming meeting should be coordinated via this page]].

===WIPs format===

Work In Progress reports.

Three or four people to present with or without visual materials.

===Presentations===

These are for mostly polished, finished projects and can be used as practice runs before conferences, vivas, etc.
Please volunteer as soon as you think you may have something to present.

Lab meeting schedule

The format is now very simple - if your name is on the calendar below, you should present your work for 30-45 minutes. With questions, discussion and lab business the meeting should take around 60-90 minutes.

If you don't have much data to present then please present a deeper introduction, showing results from relevant publications to put your work in context. You could also use the meeting to present and discuss ideas for future work (but again backed up by a review of the literature).
