- Functional genomics data integration into VectorBase
- Evolutionary computation (see PerlGP)
- Medical informatics (collaboration with David Nelson at Karolinksa University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden)

Undergraduate: Natural Sciences, Robinson College, University of Cambridge
Postgraduate: University College London, PhD under the supervision of Prof Janet Thornton
