Major Biomedical Engineering
Track 2: Cellular and Biomolecular Engineering
Classification 3rd-year undergraduate, senior-standing.
Biography After a strong disapproval from my parents to study Art and English in college, I developed a drive to study Biomedical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. I began my experience in research the first day of my freshman year in Suggs lab in Cell and Tissue Engineering.
I then branched into other areas of biology, namely the emerging field of Synthetic Biology, when I worked with Jeff Tabor in Ellington Lab, which prepared me for Summer 2005 in Cambridge, MA where I particpated in the iGEM Competition on the MIT team under Drew Endy.
After two years of experience with research in universities, I developed a strong desire to explore science (specifically sales and marketing) in industry. To satisfy this desire, I will co-op at Codon Devices, Inc, a start-up company located in Cambridge, MA pioneering the field of synthetic biology.
With my passion of art re-emerging after two years of dormacy, I continually balance biomedical engineering with graphic art by designing logos, posters, illustrations, etc. in the science field --turning a hobby into a profession.
Summer 2006 Plans Co-op at Codon, internship in Endy lab, synthetic bio with Natalie, designing logo for UT BME department, launching fitness initiative at UT, teaching group fitness classes at MIT, working with OWW, and babysitting. I am addicted to work.
Currently, I am develping page designs and templates that make OWW more user-friendly. I will be collaborating with George Ahunov in improving the functionality of OWW and consistency and efficiency of submitting information. Please feel free to share your feedback in improving these systems to make OWW easier for you.
I also love barbeque. Specifically Kreuz Market bbq in Lockhart, TX.
