| - | Iris was born in Tuttlingen, Germany (1982). She moved to Turkey when she was 3 living in Istanbul. After her graduation from Saint George College with Honours in 2001 she came to Vienna where she completed a Masters of Science degree with Honours from the University of Vienna (2007), majoring in Molecular Microbiology and Immunology. She made a master thesis in the lab of Erwin Wagner at the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) in Vienna, working on the cross-talk of the c-jun oncogene from the prominent AP-1 transcription factor complex, and the tumor suppressor gene p19ARF in cell cycle progression and tumorigenesis. Since July of 2008 she has a PhD position at CeMM in Vienna, as the latest addition to the young and enthusiastic Nijman Lab trying to identify the Achilles’ heels of cancer.
