UV-Vis Spectrometry

Using the Shimadzu UV-Vis Spectrometer

Startup

  1. Open the LCD screen on the spectrometer
  2. Turn ON the spectrometer
  3. Wait for >3.5 minutes for the instrument to initialize
  4. If initialization stalls, turn OFF the spectrometer and repeat until the spectrometer completes the checklist (2-3 times is typical)
  5. Press F4 on the spectrometer to turn control over to the PC
  6. At any time turn ON the computer
  7. Open the software
  8. On the menu option "Configure > Utilities" make sure "spectrophotometer ON" is checked
