My name is Navi Hewage and I am a Junior Biology Major on the pre-med track at Willamette. I am originally from Colombo, Sri Lanka but have been living in Dallas, Texas for the past few years. I have been working in the Altman lab since my freshman year, studying directionality of the movement of the phagocytized beads in Retinal Pigment Epithelium (RPE) cells. I joined through my interest in the research content and curiosity in the subject. For the rest of my undergraduate years at Willamette, I hope to explore other functions of Myosin VI. Besides academics, I enjoy singing, painting, hiking, cooking and watching movies.
