Typical add-ins are PF6-, BF4-, Ph4B-, Cl4Zn2-. Usually use MeOH or MeCN as solvents for these. Typical mixed-solvent diffusion tank methods are to dissolve the sample in MeCN, acetone, DMF or MeOH and allow ether to diffuse in. Typical metals (generally) for cyclam recrysts are Cd, Ag (dark), Hg or Pb (usually sit on azamacrocycle, rather than in it). Fe(II)(BF4-)2 in MeCN is good.
