Project Title: Antimicrobial efficacy testing of antibiotic-containing biodegradable nanopolymers against biofilm and planktonic cells

Project Summary

  • This project aims to determine the antimicrobial activity of antibiotic-containing biodegradable nanopolymers against clinically important bacteria including Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli in both planktonic and biofilm forms. This project also aims to determine the effects of basic parameters, such as growth medium and temperature, incubation time and cell numbers, on biofilm formation. Traditional cell viability testing will be performed after the cells are exposed to various amounts of antibiotics and nanopolymers.
