The Thermo Scientific Varioskan Flash Spectral Scanning Multimode Reader is a highly flexible plate reader capable of handling fluorometric (excitation/emission), luminometric  (emission) and photometric (absorbance) measurements in 96+ well format. The Varioskan can handle a broad range of applications from reporter assays to FRET. The Varioskan is equipped with three on board fluid dispensers, incubator and shaker to allow for real time assays. Coupled with the [[BioMicroCenter:Tecan_Freedom_Evo|Tecan EVO]], the Varioskan should allow major improvements in high throughput experiment design. Currently the Varioskan is located in '''68-252d'''. Please speak with '''Kevin Thai''' at the BioMicro Center about training if you wish to use the machine.

* On September 15th, 2010, the Varioskan will be relocated to 68-316. At that time a $10/plate charge will be implemented to cover the charge of the service contract. Plates requiring minimal time on the machine (<10 minutes) can be scanned without charge but may not be scheduled on the calender and must give priority to scheduled users. We will post an announcement before we plan to move the instrument so all users are aware of the move ahead of time.

Varioskan Flash Reader

The Thermo Scientific Varioskan Flash Spectral Scanning Multimode Reader is a highly flexible plate reader capable of handling fluorometric (excitation/emission), luminometric (emission) and photometric (absorbance) measurements in 96+ well format. The Varioskan can handle a broad range of applications from reporter assays to FRET. The Varioskan is equipped with three on board fluid dispensers, incubator and shaker to allow for real time assays. Coupled with the Tecan EVO, the Varioskan should allow major improvements in high throughput experiment design. Currently the Varioskan is located in 68-316. Please speak with Shmulik Matola at the BioMicro Center about training if you wish to use the machine.
