Multiplexed Sequencing
Multiplexed sequencing is a process of applying a "tag" to samples during sample preparation and thus allowing for multisample pooling within the same lane. This "tagging" allows for up to 12 samples to be run within a single lane or 96 samples per flowcell (including the control). The samples can then be differentiated during the pipeline analysis. This application can be useful when studying targeted genomic sub-regions or small genomes and can help to decrease the cost and time of sequencing. The kit provided by Illumina supplies 12 indexed 6bp oligos. For more information visit: http://www.illumina.com/downloads/SQ_Indexing_770-2008-011.pdf
