-- The BioMicro Center is Hiring! --

--- Bioinformatics Scientist ---

We are seeking a Bioinformatics scientist to collaborate with MIT researchers on a broad range of biological research projects and analyze and interpret experimental data. The MIT BioMicro Center is a core facility that supports and collaborates with MIT scientists working in nearly 100 labs across four departments and centers. We are looking for a bioinformatics scientist with expertise in such areas as genomics, proteomics, sequence analysis, gene expression, high-throughput analyses, and image analysis. This position provides an opportunity to work closely with MIT researchers on many different scientific and computational projects and to develop and evaluate tools that will be used on a routine basis in the analysis of genomic data.

QUALIFICATIONS: The position requires a minimum of a Ph.D. in biology, computer science, a related discipline or equivalent experience, and a minimum of two year of experience in genomics research. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are a necessity. Must be flexible and have a solid background in programming (e.g. Perl / Python, BioPerl, Java, R, MySQL) in a UNIX environment. Must be able to work well independently and with all levels of Institute researchers. Interested candidates can apply at this link: http://sh.webhire.com/servlet/av/jd?ai=631&ji=2359856&sn=I

--- Technical Assistant ---

We are seeking a technical assistant to work as part of an interdisciplinary team providing service and support for a variety of cutting-edge high data content technologies including microarrays and next-generation sequencing. The technical assistant will perform a broad range of genomic and molecular biology techniques and will participate in the adoption of high-throughput methodologies.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidate should have a BA or MA in biological science and at least two years experience working in a core facility or equivalent setting. Candidates with industrial experience are encouraged to apply and will find that the position offers considerable autonomy. Direct experience with high throughput and genomic technologies is extremely important and experience in operating robotics is highly desirable. Must have excellent interpersonal and computer skills to train and assist users with techniques and data analysis.
