  1. What was the purpose of this assignment? To explain the biological phenomena utilizing genes. We are finding out how flower color is inherited. The overall purpose, once all the different groups are able to add their observations, is to show the connections between genetics, biochemistry, as well as molecular biology when given a scenario that involved all three.
  2. What did I learn from this assignment (head, hands, heart)? From my head, I learned a lot. Everything made a lot more sense once I finally understood how the molecular genetics program worked. I was able to see the concepts described in previous classes about genetics and how they are applied in the scenario given. As far as my hands, having to work with the program despite the issues of computer, was quite frustrating and challenging, but I learned quite a bit about how the computer works and not just the program. I am used to a mac computer so working with a PC has been a bit daunting but a good experience overall. As far as my heart, I know and feel that this class will be very challenging, but working through it will help. Also, I realized that I will definitely need to remember my previous class material for this class. Already we have brought of subjects in biochemistry, genetics, as well as molecular biology.
  3. What did I not understand (yet) about this assignment? I did not understand how everything was going to be brought together when we are all working on different aspects of the scenario, but it all came together once described in class. I also did not know before that the computer's behavior would play a key role in how long this process would take.
