#*After working with the protein tool I definitely prefer working with the nucleic acids tools. The proteins tools were a lot more complicated and were not as self-explanatory as the nucleic acids tools. I could kind of play with the nucleic acid tools and figure out what I am doing, but for the protein tools I had to refer to the text to understand what was going on. The nucleic acid tools were a lot more engaging and allowed you to learn while working/analyzing, which I appreciated.

    • After working with the protein tools, I preferred the experience of working with the nucleic acid tools. The nucleic acid tools were easy to use and came with a simple to follow tutorial. Also, they were all located in a single place. The amino acid tools were much more complex and difficult to master, and some (particularly PsiPred and PredictProtein), took a very long time to run. The ease of use and relative simplicity of the output, though it may have not been aesthetically pleasing, made the nucleic acid tools the easier and more convenient to use, in my experience.

  1. After working with the protein tools on today's assignment, compare your experience with working with the nucleic acid tools versus the protein tools. Which do you like better, and why?
    • I definitely preferred working with the nucleic acid tools. They were much simpler to use and there were fewer factors to consider with them, compared to protein structures. The protein tools were spread out through a number of websites and each website's function was sometimes difficult to understand. It was also frustrating to need to wait for some of the predicting structure websites to calculate results.
