AU Biomaterials Design Lab:Protocols/PVOH Crosslinking alcohols acids

Protocol

1. Transfer PVOH and solid acid or alcohol based crosslinker to a 10 mL beaker
2. Add a small amount of water (~6 mL / g PVOH)
3. Heat to 70°C-80°C and stir until dissolved
4. Add 2 drops concentrated mineral acid catalyst
5. Stir 10 min
6. Pour into a teflon evaporating dish
7. Air dry 2 days
8. Record mass of formed film
9. Heat in oven at 100°C-150°C for 20-120min
10. Cool to room temperature and record mass
