Gel Electrophoresis of PCR Products from (10/13/2011)

  • Today we did a gel electrophoresis of our PCR products from the last session to determine if we successfully amplified our gene. We messed up two gels before finally getting it right the third time. Jack wasn't paying good enough attention and ended up adding two of our PCR products in the same lane. To add insult to injury, our gel failed miserably as our negative control turned up positive and none of the DNA we sequenced was anywhere close to what we expected. Therefore, we have elected to redo the PCR procedure from 10/11/2011 because that at least worked and use tubes to scrape the DNA from the right band.
